About the book
Have you been feeling miserable lately?
And you can’t pinpoint why?
There could be an underlying reason…
In Why Do I Feel So Sad? Acclaimed psychiatrist Dr. Shefali Batra explains the multidimensional causality of depression and its many faces. Through this book, Dr. Batra hopes to reach out to as many people as possible and spread awareness about those persistent blues that could come with tragic consequences if left undiagnosed.
She guides the reader on their journey to recovery by
• Providing time-tested, thought-based practices from modern research that can be used independently or alongside medication
• Showing you how to identify twists in your thinking, overcome numbing pessimism and become proactive about your emotional wellness using cognitive behavior techniques
• Equipping you with tools such as checklists and worksheets to overpower depression if it has already struck or in preventing it altogether
My Thoughts
To the outer universe, we technical professionals get hefty emoluments, sumptuous salaries, and luxurious comforts. Conversely, we IT professionals get incentives in the form of stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and much more. Dr. Shefali aptly directed this book toward the well-being of those individuals in need, providing them with an invaluable resource and comprehensive guide.
Till today, being an avid reader none of the books gave me a detailed analysis and insights about the term “DEPRESSION”. A 360-degree multi-dimensional hypothesis along with a thorough analysis is presented to its readers. This book provides ample exercises and workbooks highlighting insights of depression, positivity, and negativity plus the modus operandi to tackle those
Atypically, I wholeheartedly believe this book is only written for me and those who are looking for reference notes to come out of suffering and depression. I highly value the dedication and thorough investigation invested in creating this book, which offers profound insights and invites contemplative reading.
End Notes
Overall, it’s a feel-good book with a lot of key takeaways for every individual and a boon to those who are in search of positivity in life. Most importantly I coin this book as a vade mecum with answers to hefty undetermined questions and sheets for personal assessments and to bring in life transformation. I sincerely suggest having this book on your shelves as it readily offers ever-lasting solutions to overcome depression, suffering, negativity, etc, and its implications.
My Quote Pick
i.) Humans are creatures of habit who recognize change as demanding.
ii.) Nobody is perfect, no technique is seamless, no teacher is flawless, and no book is an answer to all of life’s problems.
iii.) Emotional reasoning becomes a cognitive error when you conclude that all your emotional reactions represent reality
iv.) Every human being is conditioned to react in specific ways to situations.
